Window Necklace Lina Bo Bardi
The Window necklace is a sculptural jewel by Paola Vilas that captures, in both form and material, one of the most iconic elements of Lina Bo Bardi’s work: her organic windows, which shape not only light, but also perception and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
Inspired by the irregular openings of SESC Pompéia in Sao Paulo and the reinterpreted mashrabiyas of Ladeira da Misericórdia in Salvador, the piece features asymmetrical forms that break from traditional rigidity, as if drawn freehand. More than an accessory, the necklace acts as a wearable frame, with the skin becoming an essential part of the composition.
In the Windows collection, empty space plays as central a role as metal. Each open curve reflects Lina Bo Bardi’s vision of space and transparency, translating architectural concepts into wearable sculpture.
This piece is part of an official collaboration with the Instituto Bardi.
Materials: 925 sterling silver or 925 silver with 18k gold plating.
Approximate dimensions: 39cm x 1.5cm.
Important Notice:
All 18k gold-plated 925 sterling silver jewelry requires special care and is subject to changes in appearance over time. Gold plating is a thin layer over the silver base; therefore, contact with various surfaces, exposure to chemicals found in lotions and perfumes, and even the skin’s natural pH can act as polishing agents or reactive elements that gradually wear away the gold, revealing the silver underneath. Once the gold layer fades, the piece can be replated or cleaned to be worn in its sterling silver form.
