The Window earrings is a sculptural jewel by Paola Vilas that transforms one of the most iconic elements of Lina Bo Bardi’s work into form and material: her organic windows, which shape not only light but also the gaze and the relationship between inside and outside.
Inspired by the irregular openings of SESC Pompéia in São Paulo and the reinterpreted mashrabiyas of Ladeira da Misericórdia in Salvador, this piece features asymmetrical forms that break away from traditional rigidity as if drawn freehand. More than mere adornments, the earrings function as wearable frames, revealing the skin as an essential part of the composition.
In the Window collection, empty space is just as important as the metal. Each cut-out curve reflects Lina Bo Bardi’s philosophy on space and transparency, transforming architectural concepts into bodily sculptures.
This jewel is part of an official collaboration with the Instituto Bardi.
Materials: 925 sterling silver or 925 silver with 18k gold plating.
Approximate dimensions: 64.5mm x 30.4mm.
Approximate weight: 19.4g.
Important Notice:
All 18k gold-plated 925 sterling silver jewelry requires special care and may undergo changes in appearance over time. Gold plating is a thin layer over the silver base; therefore, contact with various surfaces, exposure to chemicals found in creams and perfumes, and even the skin’s natural pH can act as polishing agents or reactive elements that gradually wear away the gold, revealing the silver underneath. Once the gold layer fades, the piece can be replated or cleaned to be worn in its sterling silver form.
