Glass House Earrings Lina Bo Bardi

The Glass House Earrings is a sculptural piece by Paola Vilas that incorporates the iconic blue vidrotis from the Casa de Vidro, transforming fragments of glass into true precious gems, hand-cut to reveal unique colors and luminosity.

Upon the vidrotis, original drawings by Lina retrieved from the Bardi Institute's archives take form. Symbols of her strength and imagination, such as the Venus (created at age 17) and the crowned bird (at age 13), reveal the sensibility of an emerging artist and the vision of a woman ahead of her time.

On the back of the earring, the vidrotil is set with four sculptural metal prongs shaped like hands.

This piece is part of an official collaboration with the Bardi Institute.

The gold plating is a layer over the 925 Silver; thus, contact with various surfaces, exposure to chemicals found in creams and perfumes, and even the skin’s natural pH can act as a polishing agent or reagent, gradually wearing away the gold layer and revealing the silver underneath. Once the gold layer wears off, it is possible to have the piece re-plated or cleaned to be worn as 925 Silver.
